A TREKK TO GANGOTHRI AND TAPOVAN

sreenath trekking dairy
Himalaya, nothing but heaven on earth.its beautiful mountain ranges, breath taking scenic views, snow covered mountains, glaciers, its the origin of many rivers.
we planned to trek to Gomuk and Tapovan.as per our plan we left Bangalore one fine day, reached Haridwara via Delhi. checked in Gujarathi Dharma shaala, its neat and near to bus stand more over that cheap and best option than hotel
Haridwara is the one of the entry gate to Himalayan range,
Evening we walked along the Ganga river, and witnessed AARATHI programe.its very beautiful.
we left yo Hrishikesh same evening and stayed in Thirupathi temple trust dharmashala.
Early morning 4.30 am we left to Gangothri.via Uttara kashi, border city of uttarakand state.travelling from Hrishikesh to Gangothri itself is a thrilling experience,Mini busses will operate from Hrishikesh to Gangothri
..We reached Gangothri by night 9 pm.after reaching there our first work is to find a place to sleep.near to bus stsand so many lodges  are there. trekers can check in any one of them.low budget Rs 100 to high bugjet Rs 1000 per night room also available.we checked in a low cost room, there no hot water available,at sub zero tempaturte its not possible to take bath.before entering the Gangothri national park, treker should take permision from forest deportment and have to pay entry fees.forest dept office is in Gangothri bus stand.after taking permission letter from forest dept,we had nice dinner ie roti and aloo curry.we had nice sleep that night.
we got up early morning by 5.30 am,due to cold we struggled to wash our....we are ready by 6.30 am and left towards Gomuk...its a long walk..from Gangothri gomuk is 18 kms,due to high altitude we struggled to walk, but its a fentastic experince, awesome, where ever we see snow covered mountains, flowing ganga river`s melodius music, we felt like we are in heaven.at high altitude its littlebit difficult to breath properly,we met a german trekker, she was around 60 years old came alone for trek in himalaya range. she was the inspiration for us to pickup some pace.some suffered from high altitude sickness,we are lucky,we didnt felt any thing like that.In our team Gunda struggled alot, its first time he is being in such high altitude, one more teammate kiran also done very good.my self, srinivas and bommanna were perfectly allright.after 7 km trek we take a lunch break,we had some snacks and tea.after every 10 min of trek 15  min rest, very slow pace,we managed to click some wonderful photos on the way.we find many Himalayan thars.we reached Bhojavas by evening 4 pm .we tired alot, could not able to reach gomuk .from there gomuk is 4 kms,so decided to stay in Bojavasa ashram.
hot tea was waiting for us,we had tea to keep  alive in that quenching cold.there temparature was below -5 degree at that time.flowing water in pipe became ice in water supply pipe.in ashram they charger 250 per day per person, they will provide food and shelter for trekkers.its a Baba ashram. At night we had hot roti and aloo curry.since first day we were eating allo parota only,so its littlebit difficult to adjust same food every day.we slept before 8 pm that night due to tiredness.we awake early morning at 5.30 am but we felt very hard to do our natural duties due to quenching cold.its very difficult to touch cold water.didnt washed our face, after breakfast we started to Gomuk by 7 am.
In between i have to tel a incident.a person from bangalore by name prabhakar, was a diabetic pationt and vision difficiency.he came to visit chardham, after visiting gangothri he changed his mind and start towords Gomuk afternoon.it was too late to start the trek to gomuk, but he started alone.he could not able to reach bojavasa by evening, due to his low vision and cold he panicked and started crying, unfortunatly he met a porter who is coming by the same trail.porter had a sleeping bag,he also alone, they managed to sleep in single sleeping bag.early morning they reached ashram.
after breakfast we treked to gomuk, its 4 kms from bojavasa ashram, its scinic spot, but beaware of land sliding, its very dangerous,no chance to alive if land slide happenes.gangothri glaciar starts from gomuk, from here ganga rever start flowing.after seeing gomuk,we left towards thapovan, its a very tough way to assend vertically.we have to cross gangothri glaciar to reach thapovan, crossing glaceier is very dangerous task,if we slipped, that is the end of our life.we trekked 4 kms in 4 hour.by afternoon 12 we are at the top of thapovan, shvling mountain base.a sanyasi who not speaking to any one,he invited us and offered lunch in his ashram.taken beautiful landscape photograph and himalayan thar a mountain animal.after spending some time, we started return journey.after 2 o clock climate wil change drastically, before its getting dark we have to reach ashram.we reached Bojabasa ashram by evening 6 o clock...its very tough and challenging trek ever i done.we had hot tea followed by hot dinner, again roti and aloo curry...next day morning we started towards uttara kaashi via gangothri..thats the end of splendid trek Gangothri,Gomuk, and Thapovan.
